How do you decide which books to review?

I’m either given the books for free by the publishers, authors, Amazon or NetGalley…or…I buy the books that I want to read…or…I already have the books on my shelf at home. If I’ve not got a review that ‘needs’ to be done to a specific timescale, I will look at my unread books spreadsheet (*coughs* geek *coughs*) and choose a book to read that appeals to me at that particular time. I have a strange fondness of contemporary books in the summer and historicals in the winter! But that’s not a hard and fast rule!

Why do you review old books?

This site isn’t a business - it’s just my labour of love. I love romance novels and as they are recommended to me by friends, family, Amazon… then I will try them out whether they’ve been published in the last few days or last few years. Many are books that have been sitting on my shelf for years, waiting patiently for their turn to be read.

Aren’t some of your 1 star reviews quite harsh?

Perhaps that’s true and if you’re the author, or a fan of the book/author, then it might be quite hard to read something that’s not all positive. However, these are just my personal opinions on books and I hope that anybody who reads the reviews will make their own judgement on whether or not to spend their hard earned money or not. If there are things that have bothered me in a book that don’t bother you, by all means try a book I’ve given a 1 star rating to and let me know if you disagree with my assessment. The comments are a good place to start a conversation. Just be nice, opinions aren’t wrong but sometimes the way they are expressed can be.

Can I trust your reviews?

Yep. Even if I’ve been given the book for free, I will always be honest in my reviews. I would hate to think of somebody buying a book because of my glowing recommendation when I actually didn’t think it was any good. That’s almost as bad as recommending cake to someone when you know it’s dry, tasteless or, God forbid, good for you! Say no to healthy cake, people!

Will you review my book?

Have a quick look at my reviews to see if your book is the kind of book I usually read. If so, visit my For Authors page for more information.

Who reviews for your site?

Just little old me. This is just an off shoot of my personal blog - a place to keep all my book reviews in one place and available for anyone else who might be interested in reading them.

Why do you do this?

I love romance novels and I want to share my love of romance novels with anyone who’s interested.
